Creative Community Library Late Celebrates Local Voices in Longsight
Updated: Dec 12, 2019
Manchester musicians, poets and Longsight residents came together at Longsight Library on 26th November 2019 for a Creative Community Library Late!
The event served up festive crafts, food and drink, and provided a platform for the voices participants from Creative Community workshops.
The Creative Community project included a series of three workshops for under 18s and three workshops for ages 18+ covering a range of arts activities including poetry, movement and expression. Celebrated at the Showcase event.
Participants shared poetry and songs with themes of community, climate change, mental health and friendship. It was lovely to see the Creative Community team creating space for new younger voices too, with youngsters taking to the mic to share work they had created. A brilliant start to a life of creativity and community!
This project was the second from this group of pioneering young creatives. They first came up with the idea for Creative Community following a two week creative digital course held at the Library. They successfully produced their first Creative Community project in August, delivering a series of creative sessions and then hosting a brilliant open mic event.
